Asia Pacific Regional Internet Governance Forum 2017 Bangkok Synthesis Document Second Open Input Period (Deadline Extended)

The second open input period for the APrIGF 2017 Synthesis Document [http://comment.aprigf.asia/] is now open until 6 September 10 September.  The AP community is invited to contribute to document which will be finalized and published in the third week of September 2017.

For any questions, please contact us at sec@aprigf.asia

Background

The APrIGF Synthesis Document was an experiment of the APrIGF Macau 2015 [http://aprigf.asia/events.html], and continued in APrIGF Taipei 2016.  The concept was first raised and discussed at the APrIGF New Delhi 2014 Multi-stakeholder Steering Group (MSG) meetings, and further refined over the course of MSG deliberations through the year. The Synthesis Document aims to document items of common interest relevant to Internet Governance in the Asia Pacific region.

In terms of the process of the development of the Synthesis Document, building on the success of the two editions of the APrIGF Synthesis Document, this year we are including more opportunities and channels for community input as well as two webinars to explain how to contribute. The framing document is based on the submitted and accepted workshop proposals for the APrIGF, and draft 1 which will contain largely placeholders and basic summary of topics to be discussed at the APrIGF event. These documents are posted publicly on the APrIGF community mailing list as well as event website to solicit comments. The document was further developed at multiple “Synthesis Document Discussion” sessions at the APrIGF Bangkok meeting. You can refer to the APrIGF 2017 Agenda [https://2017.aprigf.asia/program/agenda/] for details of the sessions.

The Synthesis Document aims only to document the input from participants at the APrIGF and is not intended to be representative of the diverse Asia Pacific region. Nevertheless, it is the hope of the APrIGF MSG that the development of the Synthesis Document can help drive active participation in the movement, as well as to allow for a platform to project voices, views and thoughts in the Asia Pacific region as contributions to relevant global, national, local and international forums on Internet Governance.

Webinar 2 for Synthesis Document 2017

The second public input period for the APrIGF Synthesis Document will be open from 24 August to 6 September.

Join the Webinar 2 on Thursday, 24 August [04:00 UTC, time conversion: http://igf.asia/2wpC81z ] to get an update on the document process and learn more about the second public input period. Please register at sec@aprigf.asia to receive further details on how to join Webinar 2.
